John Shenk Travel Grants for NIR-2017

The International Council for Near Infrared Spectroscopy (ICNIRS) offers travel awards for student delegates to travel to the council's international conferences, held in alternate years. The awards are intended as a supplement to the delegate's own resources for travel and are awarded in cases where there is a valid justification for financial support. Funding for the awards is made possible because of the donation of a significant portion of the profits from the previous ICNIRS conference and is dependent on the financial success of the previous conference.

Funding for the NIR-2017 conference in Copenhagen, Denmark will be possible because of the donation of profits from the organizers of the NIR-2015 conference in Foz do IguaƧu, Brazil. Applications will be considered from anyone who can demonstrate a valid case for financial support; however, full funding of travel, accommodation and conference registration is not provided. ICNIRS will look most favorably on student applicants who can obtain a substantial proportion of the necessary funds from their own sources and for whom a lack of the balance would prevent attendance.

To apply for an ICNIRS travel grant for NIR-2017 please submit:

  • a resume
  • a BRIEF outline of current and past NIR research and/or development, and its impact on the applicant's work area
